Wouldn’t the world be a bit brighter if we could wear cheetah print blazers to work? I’m applying for jobs in Nashville, TN (eek!) and have a few interviews lined up. Graduation is 8 weeks away, bringing adulthood closer and closer by the minute. As a child I just wanted to grow up, and now I’m wondering where all the time went.
Keeping the curiosity and boldness of a child is the biggest piece of advice I can give you (and myself) to never let that part of yourself go. Life is short, as we all know, so make it count. I used to take myself so serious, with my goals lined out and no deviations from my future plans. It’s great to have goals, I encourage you to write them down and make them happen, girlfriend! But just know that life will get in the way of those plans and thats when you just have to roll with the punches and laugh at how serious you take yourself. I used to be so focused on my future, that I forgot to embrace the present.
One sure way of keeping your childlike curiosity and boldness is to build the career path you want. Never take no for answer, ask questions, and boldly go after exactly what you want. Whether it be to become a fellow girlboss and be an entrepreneur, become a teacher, a nurse, an accountant, or even a show girl, line out the goals/steps it will take you to get there. Make a map. That map will have rest stops, road blocks and pot holes that you can’t see, and that’s okay. Keep going until you get to where you want. For me, it’s building a career that allows me to channel my inner creativity and have the option of wearing a cheetah print blazer and stilettos to work, or opt out for my favorite Victoria’s Secret sweatpants and flannel sleep shirt. What’s yours?
This outfit is one of my favorites so far to be featured on the blog. Partly because it’s all A T avenue, but also because it’s a glimpse into how I want to dress professionally when I hit true adulthood (in just 8 weeks!). This blazer is called Be Fierce from A T avenue, encouraging you to find your wild side and flaunt your confidence. The beaded undershirt is from Forever 21, one of my go-to stores to find anything I’m looking for. I rarely leave that place empty handed, oops! This pop of red purse is from A T avenue, along with the pearl, tweed entwined layered necklace and leggings. I picked up these two-toned heels from TJ Maxx, which I love because they go with everything!
Don’t forget to begin building that road map to your dream job. Dreams fall flat without goals, girlfriend!
