You will notice that I’m a big fashion fan of the color red mixed with bold prints. My photographer and I shot this particular outfit on my campus because rich red always looks great against a brick or stone background.
Let’s chat about this outfit. Every item happens to be from my boutique A T avenue . One of the perks of owning a women’s clothing boutique allows you to always have wardrobe options! My plaid dress reminds me of Scotland (plaid actually always reminds me of Scotland). The black and white thick plaid with a layered ruffle hem makes me feel like I’m channeling my inner school girl. A Scottish school girl! I’m in love with my A T red coat. The double collar reminds me of something Cruella Deville might wear. Don’t worry I love dalmatians and I don’t plan on dying my hair white anytime soon, but I adored her style. My necklace is also A T avenue. When I buy bling for my boutique, I search for unique stones and pieces that make me stop and wish I was wearing it right that instant. I felt that way about this necklace. This necklace was recently sold to a sweet sophomore at Charleston High School (Hi Madison!) and I know it went to a good home. Wear it well, girlfriend! Booties are a popular trend this season. Tall boots are great too, but sometimes your outfit calls for booties! I snagged these black booties at Kohl’s for $25.00. Kohl’s shoe department draws you in like an ice cream truck jingle: you walk away with six pairs of shoes and ice cream dripping down your face. No shame though.
The last shot was taken outside Blair Hall on my campus. Some of the old buildings at EIU remind me of Hogwarts, so you might see several future shots with castles (or Harry Potter) in the background.
My piece of advice from this blog is don’t be afraid to take risks. A bright red coat and bold plaid might not be your style (and that’s okay!) but I do encourage you to color outside the lines of your style. Play with fashion, there are no rules. If you love it, wear it. Don’t mind what others think or say. If you feel confident in it, then that’s one of the best feelings in the world. Shine on, Darling!
