With Thanksgiving just wrapping up and our bellies still full, I wanted to share this special event with you. It was all about community and conversation, hosted by a beautiful soul named Bethany Edwards – founder of Flourish Supper Club. She started hosting these monthly dinners in Nashville, TN over a year ago and just hosted her first Flourish Supper in NYC this month. These Pinterest worthy dinners were created to cultivate creative conversation and challenge the status quo of authenticity.
After months of knowing about these unique dinners, I finally was in town to experience one. It blew me away. I walked up to an brick, ranch styled home to see twinkling lights and laughter coming from the back yard. I didn’t know a soul other than Bethany and that was the best part. It pushed me out of my comfort zone to connect with women I’d never met before. The tablescape took my breath away. The copper mugs, water colored name tags, and the fresh green foliage sprinkling the table. This dinner was really all of my Pinterest board combined into one incredible evening.
Butternut squash, fresh bread, green salad, and double layered cake was on the menu, all made by Bethany. Her heart for service and community is what immediately drew me to her months ago. I told myself, I want someone like her in my corner. She’s the real deal. After filling our plates and gathering around the table, we began to talk like we’d known each other for longer that 30 minutes. We went around the table and shared what set our soul on fire.
What sets your soul on fire?
It was real and funny at times and authentic. The evening went far beyond a thoughtfully decorated table and curated menu of delicious bites. It was about community. It was about connecting. It was about gathering around the idea of creativity to feel like we aren’t alone in our journey to find ourselves. I left so inspired. When you get a chance to connect with someone, connect with them. It’s hard to not immediately default to trying to impress them, but connecting is so much better than impressing. Plan a dinner party for strangers and talk about real things. You never know when inspiration can strike.
